An archaeological expedition to a shipwreck lying at the depth of more than 80 metres, about 60 nautical miles off Cape Rozewie, searching the unexplored so far wreck called "Bookcarrier" has finished on August 2009. Little is known about the ship as such. Most probably she was a 17th-century merchant ship up.

A real treat for maritime art lovers - from May 29 the exhibition: "Meeting the Sea" - the 7th from the series "Polish Artists about the Sea" is on show in Granaries at Olowianka Island. The exhibition presents works of the founder of the Polish Marine Painters Circle - Włodzimierz Nałęcz as well as its most outstanding members: Wojciech Weiss, Franciszek Szwoch, Wacław Zaboklicki and Emil Lindeman.

The Colonial Warehouse has now been closed to visitors. It used to be one of the premises of the Polish Maritime Museum, located by the already renovated Crane. Soon the demolition work will begin on the former heating plant which in the 1970s was adapted for the museum.

On 27 September 1785 a strong storm sank a British sailboat carrying iron near Dębki, a fishing village. A message about the sunken ship survived in the local fishermen’s stories. The memories revived whenever yet another net was destroyed by something lying on the sea bottom.
