On July 2nd - Saturday - we invite you all to the opening of the Shipwreck Conservation Centre in Tczew. On that day the admission to the newest branch of the National Maritime Museum will be free of charge and the museum staff will show the visitors around the building.

On June 13th a new building of the National Maritime Museum, Shipwreck Conservation Centre with Studio Warehouse in Tczew officially started to function.

A year ago, on 24th November, a cornerstone laying ceremony was held for the new investment – the Shipwreck Conservation Centre with Studio Warehouse in Tczew. The new object is planned to be opened in the spring of 2016, final finishing works are currently being conducted along with development works around the building of the Centre.

"Kumka IV" was intended to be like a plan: fast, light, watertight, and in addition, cheap in construction, with welded metal sheets used as material. When Tadeusz Sołtyk, a 28-year-old engineer, was designing a yacht for his own use, his goal was reaching two years of her operation before she would be defeated by corrosion. "Kumka IV", however, survived through the war and outlived her designer. In two years, she will be celebrating her 80th birthday in the Shipwreck Conservation Centre in Tczew, which is currently under construction.

An international conference Condition.2015 took place between 19th and 22nd May 2015 at the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. It was devoted to aspects of conservation of archeological objects discovered during the exploration of the seabed as well as digitization of large objects outside controlled studio environment.

A solitary cruise, a murderous struggle against time and illness, an obsession to sail round the world without any help or support, with only a yacht and oneself to rely on. Leonid Teliga is still recognized as a symbol of a romantic struggle and an extraordinary sea adventure. Few sailors, before or after Teliga, managed to achieve as much – to fully devote their lives to sailing.

She lost her mast in a cyclone. She was a "star" of the Chicago World's Fair as well as a cause of disputes between consecutive owners. Laminated with plastic many years ago, she has been waiting for conservation which would restore her original design from the 1930s.
