If Hieronymus Bosch had been a diver, he would probably have painted like Włodzimierz Szpinger, this is what connoisseurs of the artist's works claim. A clean palette of intense colours, a strong sense of humour and unusual inhabitants of a mystical underwater world. We are delighted to invite you to a vernissage of the artist, who was granted with a passport to the underwater world by Okeanos himself.

In the 19th century, yachting was a sport and a form of entertainment of the elite. Representatives of the aristocracy and high finance of that time were eager to invest in more and more modern vessels. Sailing was not only a hobby but it was also viewed as an opportunity to emphasize one's social status. The 19th century was also marked by the beginnings in the development of photography. A new device was invented for recording of the continuously changing reality, for presenting of events and displaying new trends, including yachting.

"Kumka IV" was intended to be like a plan: fast, light, watertight, and in addition, cheap in construction, with welded metal sheets used as material. When Tadeusz Sołtyk, a 28-year-old engineer, was designing a yacht for his own use, his goal was reaching two years of her operation before she would be defeated by corrosion. "Kumka IV", however, survived through the war and outlived her designer. In two years, she will be celebrating her 80th birthday in the Shipwreck Conservation Centre in Tczew, which is currently under construction.

Archaeologists and divers of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk have completed studies of the F53.30 shipwreck. Exploration of the site has been conducted as a part of the "Gulf of Gdańsk Shipwreck Virtual Open-Air Museum" project and has provided outstanding results. Presumably, "Szklany" is the remains of a merchant vessel of Gdańsk origin dating back to the latter half of the 17th century.
