Opened on 11th December, a new exhibition of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk is devoted to the postulates drawn up by the Inter-Factory Strike Committee (IFSC) and written down on plywood boards in August 1980, from then on known as the Solidarity Boards. It has been prepared on the 10th anniversary of inclusion of the Boards in the Polish Register of the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme, which represents the most significant documents in the history of mankind.

We are pleased to invite you to the Granaries on Ołowianka Island to see and participate in some of the most famous naval battles. The exhibition scenario was inspired by 4 historic events: the Battle of Salamis (480 BC), the Battle of Vistula Lagoon (1463), the Battle of Oliva (1627) and contemporary pirate attacks on merchant vessels in the area of the Somali Peninsula.

The 10th exhibition of the "Polish Artists and the Sea" cycle presents an artist whose artistic life was largely related to the Polish coast. He taught at the PWSSP (Academy of Arts) in Gdańsk for several dozen years. His works were largely inspired by Gdańsk, the coast and marine themes.
