On April 28th and 29th there will be a grand opening of the Maritime Culture Centre, a branch office of the Polish Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. The Centre will be open from 12 o'clock am to 8 pm to all the visitors (no admission fee).

The Maritime Culture Centre (OKM), now under construction between the Crane and the Hanza Hotel, keeps growing every day. Construction works are being carried out on the sixth storey. Floor has been shored up over the fourth storey, and some of the boarding has been raised for the other outer walls.

Day by day, the Maritime Culture Centre built between the Żuraw and the Hanza Hotel is surfacing. Despite the holiday season, intensive pedestrian traffic in and around the streets of Długie Pobrzeże and Szeroka, and the three-week-long St Dominic's Fair, the construction work on the Centre has been making quick progress.

The scenery of the old port on the Motława River is rapidly changing. The Colonial Warehouse buildings cannot be seen any more. Soon, Poleko Sp. z o.o. company will complete the demolition of the former boiler house, later adapted to museum purposes.

Soon construction work will begin on a modern museum facility – the Maritime Culture Centre. It will be the next branch of the Polish Maritime Museum. The new building will be built where at present the Colonial Warehouse is located, next to the Crane.
