Picturesque Ostróda-Elbląg Canal

Photographer Wojtek Kokos Kozicz is certainly fascinated by the subject of his latest exhibition, presented in the Vistula River Museum, Tczew. The exhibition was commissioned by The Union of Communes of the Ostróda-Elbląg Canal and Iława Lake District in order to encourage tourists to take a cruise or a hike along this feat of engineering, so aptly integrated into the landscape. He focused not only on the uniqueness of engineering and boats on slipways: from spring 2009 till May 2011, he took a number of cruises and outings, seeking a new look at subjects and places well-known from the works of other photographers. He tried to show things omitted by others. However, his aim has always been a good picture.

About the author:
He was born in 1970, in Ostróda, Western Masuria. His workplace is where he currently stays. He studied photography at Łódź Film School PWSFTviT and philosophy at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.
Recently he stayed in London and Barcelona, working on such artistic documentary cycles as The Flag, Mannequins, Las Lamparas, and unique portraits of London (The Missing Syndrome) and Barcelona (Barcelona. Fotografia Urbana). The exhibition The Colours of the Canal. Impressions of the Ostróda-Elbląg Canal, made to commission, is his latest project.
He published his photographs in promotional publications of the town and the region, artistic magazines and the Rzeczpospolita daily.
In 2009, he established Koykos Studio, dealing with landscape and architecture photography, photojournalism and education. He carries out both his own projects and commissioned ones.
