MarMuCommerce completed

We are happy to inform you that The Polish Maritime Museum in Gdańsk has completed the EU project MarMuCommerce with a conference entitled "Museum Seeking Customers" which took place on 26th October 2007. Representatives of all the museums in the region participated in it. We plan our second conference promoting our project to be held on 12th November 2007 with participants being teachers from the region.
We presented to the conference guests the main objectives, methods of our work under the project and also its results. We also showed our virtual exhibition presenting the maritime heritage of the cities participating in the project, available now on the website www.marmucommerce.com, and also we showed the developed Internet tools which may be used in future virtual exhibitions.

MarMuCommerce Project was co-financed by the EUROPEAN UNION under INTERREG IIIC of the European Regional Development Fund. The project’s main objective was to establish a consortium consisting of some chosen European museums which would be obliged to co-operate under a signed agreement. Another objective was to develop a business model which would help to introduce techniques and marketing tools to public institutions, thus adapting them to operate in the market economy, and indirectly shall contribute to more jobs and higher tourist attraction of the region, including the revitalised former port areas.

Under the project we organised a series of training courses for the museums’ personnel to improve their managerial skills and to introduce here in Poland the best practices from British experts in the field.
