Officially started in November 2012 as a part of a cross-border cooperation programme joined by the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation, the project will be carried out for the next two years. Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad is the project leader and the representatives of Lithuanian and Russian local administration authorities are among its partners. Academic circle is represented by Klaipėda University. Apart from PMM, Polish participants include the Folk Architecture Museum in Olsztynek, non-governmental organisations, including the "Pruthenia" learned society and the Elbląg Europe Association. Russian partners are represented by the History and Art Museum and the "Speaking Water Club" Group from Kaliningrad.
The project is the continuation of the Crossroads project carried out a few years ago (also by PMM) and its main goals are similar to those of the first edition and include infrastructural and educational activities as well as scientific research. PMM’s main goals are expert supervision of replica construction of boats from the Vistula and Curonian lagoons, preparation of academic publications, creation of a temporary exhibition and participation in international archaeological workshops which will be attended by a group of Polish students. The opening of the "Kaup" open-air museum near Kaliningrad, aimed at promotion of cross-cultural heritage of Sambia peninsula and both lagoons in European history, will constitute the final part of the project. PMM has three representatives: Kamila Jezierewska, Robert Domżał and Waldemar Ossowski and also Andrzej Gierszewski, the project assistant.
